Community Leader
Fighting for Ward 6!

Meet Imelda Ceja

My name is Imelda Ceja, and I am a Community Affairs Representative, former California Board of Registered Nursing Member, and Kern County Public Health Project Specialist. Today, I am excited to announce my candidacy for Bakersfield City Council Ward 6.

With over 20 years of experience as a project specialist at the Kern County Public Health Services Department, I have dedicated my career to serving our community. I have worked on programs focused on Maternal, Child, and Adolescent Health; Child Health and Disability Prevention; Communicable Disease Control; Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention; Refugee Health Assessment; and Medi-Cal Outreach.

Appointed by Governor Jerry Brown, I had the honor of serving on the California Board of Registered Nursing, where I helped protect and promote the health of California’s 39.5 million residents by overseeing our 430,000 registered nurses and the laws related to nursing education, licensure, practice, and discipline.

I was also privileged to serve as the first woman president of the Kern, Inyo, and Mono Counties Central Labor Council, where I represented and advocated for 30,000 local working men and women.

As your City Council representative, I promise to be a strong voice for the residents of Ward 6, ensuring your concerns are heard and addressed. I am committed to working tirelessly to improve our community and enhance the quality of life for all residents.

I look forward to earning your support as we campaign together for a brighter future for Ward 6.

Address Homelessness: Collaborate with county and state leaders to secure funds for mental health treatment resources and increase the production of affordable and transitional housing to tackle homelessness effectively.

Invest in Infrastructure: As Bakersfield continues to grow, prioritize investments in public works infrastructure, including roads, sewers, water systems, and energy solutions.

Enhance Green Spaces: Invest in programs aimed at maintaining and creating new parks and green spaces throughout the city to improve the quality of life for all residents.

Economic Development: Increase economic activity by attracting new businesses, streamlining permitting, and supporting our local entrepreneurs with resources to grow their businesses.

Supporting Law Enforcement and First Responders: Ensuring that our police and fire departments have the resources they need to protect and serve our community effectively. Securing state and federal funds to combat fentanyl use and fight back against retail theft.

"Our community needs a leader who will passionately champion our quality of life and actively address our unique needs."- Imelda Ceja
